The End of the Trail

Publication Date: February 7, 2008

Some of you probably figured this out long before I did, but I have reached the end of the trail that I've been leaving with the Breadcrumbs Back to Omaha column. My love for the game is still as strong, and my desire to provide material that's of use to the community is still there, but the urge to write has been well and truly scratched. I know from my logs and your email that my writing skills haven't been the big draw around here anyway, so I think we can make this into a positive thing, since it frees me up to work on some other ideas.

The first couple of those are up on the site now, as you'll see if you go to the revised front page. One is the 2008 schedule for every team in a format that can easily be sucked into your favorite calendaring software, for those of us who live and die by Outlook or iCal. The other is a plea for more data as I make up my mind on who to vote for in this year's College Baseball Hall of Fame election.

Once the season starts, there are still a few of the old Breadcrumbs features that I want to keep going. There will be Pitch Count Watches and Tournament Watches published each week during the season, and I'll probably do the usual series of features leading up to selection time. All this is in addition to the same data feeds as always. Keep an eye out, and let me know what you want to see; we'll figure out together where the site goes from here.
